While fans are waiting for Nina Dobrev’s return for “TVD’s” final season, some light about Matt Donovan’s family history have come to light  online. Zach Roerig, who plays the only human character left in the series, teases a big reveal about his character when “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 premieres.

In an interview with TooFab, Zach Roerig teased us about how the upcoming season will be explosive where his character is concerned. Being the only human left in Mystic Falls, he expressed that fans’s perspective of him might just change after learning that his family also has a very supernatural and crazy secret.  He also revealed that the Matt Donovan who will leave Mystic Falls will not be the same “bus boy” friend who will come back years after. Hmmm whats the scoop Matty we are all dying to know?

“This is gonna be an explosive season for Matt. It’s gonna be a slow start at the beginning; because as you saw in Season 7, finally after all the grief and hardships he’s been through, he’s said, ‘Enough, I’m done with this. I’m gonna leave town.’ I’m not leaving my friends, but I’m gonna leave Mystic Falls,” Roerig expressed.

The Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) actor went on further and explained:

“When Matt comes back to town, it’s gonna enrich his character in a way that it’s never been in the entire history of the show. Because you just think about Matt being the only human on the show. He’s a busboy, this and that, and no family. We’re gonna learn that the Donovan family history is also kind of supernatural and crazy.”
