Visual novels are not known to be hot sellers for game publishers in North America. This is sad news as some of these digital comics can be quite a bit of fun to just relax and enjoy. We had one really investing release in Snatcher for the Sega CD back in the 1990’s and it kind of bombed. Unfortunately, back then visual novels were really not popular at all- too bad Konami of today would NEVER attempt an HD re-release (though it would sell like hotcakes). That leaves Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak: Special Gigs and other games to take up the visual novel torch and run with it. This time on Playstation 3 and 4 and PS Vita.
Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak: Special Gigs is a remake of Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters which was released last year. As with most visual novels you control a transfer student who is new in town and in school (imagine that). As you are taking the 25 cent tour of your new school grounds you experience some really weird supernatural (along the lines of Sam and Dean levels folks) stuff going on. This forces you into the world of being a ghost hunter who has a slight problem with that fine line between life and death.
If you are like me and are a fan of visual novels then you are probably already warming up those Sony consoles and portable. Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak: Special Gigs is one of those titles that we don’t get all that often in North America, let’s not screw this up so we can get more in the future.
