It’s October, which means Halloween is nearly here! With no end of movies to enjoy this October I thought we could look at the most popular TV shows which have brought us fantastic Halloween Specials. Since there are more than you can imagine, I thought I would tell you my favourite ones.
The Vampire Diaries – Haunted:
The night Mystic Falls had their high school Halloween party 31st October 2009 back when The Vampire Diaries had just come to our screens. This was the first season of the show and for a Halloween special it certainly did not disappoint. Most of Mystic Falls High dressed up for the occasion, even Vicki (Kayla Ewell) who had just recently been turned vampire by Damon (Ian Somerhalder), turned up in a very dramatic vampire costume. Vicki ended up being killed at the hands of Stefan (Paul Wesley) via a heart staking in this episode due to her trying to take a chunk out of Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Elena (Nina Dobrev). Well she was warned not to go!
Pretty Little Liars – The First Secret:
Although, all of the Pretty Little Liars Halloween Specials are amazing, the first one that always comes to mind is this one from season 2. The episode took us back to 2008 before Ali’s (Sasha Pieteres) disappearing act, back when Jenna (Tammin Sursok) could see and was new in town, Hannah (Ashley Benson) was known as “Hefty Hannah”, and Mona (Janel Parrish) was well “looser Mona”. The liars attend a Halloween party, and during the party we got a little insight in to what was going on with Ali “pre – death.” In this episode Ali quickly disappeared from the party, worrying the other liars. Their fears mounted when they all received a text from Alison telling them she needed their help and to come to that crazy-creepy abandoned house in their neighborhood. Alison with the help of Noel (Brant Daugherty), who wore the same costume as the peeper, staged an elaborate kidnapping hoax to test the girls’ loyalty. They all passed, but not without a lot of quickened pulses and hurt feelings. But when the girls returned to the party, Noel apologized for not making it to the prank. Dumm… dum… dummm!
American Horror Story – Halloween:
The named episode Halloween was brought to us as a two parter during the first season of American Horror Story. In 2010, a couple, Chad (Zachary Quinto) and Patrick (Teddy Sears), now own the house. They have a damaging relationship and while decorating the house, Chad confronts Patrick about his infidelity after finding naughty messages to a person online before an angered Patrick leaves. Moments later, the Rubber Man appears and Chad believes the man to be his partner but the latex figure ends up attacking him which results in a broken neck for Chad. Patrick, in a cowboy costume, arrives and sees Chad’s corpse before staring at the Rubber Man in shock. Other things happen on Halloween night as the dead have that one night to walk free amongst the living. In this episode we discover Tate’s (Evan Peters) dark secret.
How I met Your Mother – Slutty Pumpkin:
The Slutty Pumpkin was first introduced in the first season of How I Met Your Mother when Ted recalls how he met the girl in a strategically carved pumpkin outfit at a Halloween party only to lose her number. He returns to the same party in his hanging chad costume every year with the hopes of running into her once again. Her identity wouldn’t be revealed until much later in the series but, surprise, she’s Katie Holmes.
The Simpsons – Treehouse of Horror V:
In the Halloween episode Treehouse of Horror V, The Simpsons delivered a very memorable spoof of The Shining.
