The Voice Runner-Up Dead at 22: Christina Grimmie

About two years ago, the world was introduced to one of the most beautiful voices we have ever heard. Christina Grimmie auditioned for The Voice Season 6 and was an instant hit. During her blind audition she turned all four judges around before choosing to go with Adam Levine as her coach.

Through out the competition she graced the stage with some of the most memorable performances in The Voice history. Some of her most memorable performances were ““, ““, and ““, but she was had four of her studio recorded performance reach the top ten list on iTunes; ““, ““, ““, and ““.

Christina went all the way to the Live Finale and was awarded third place, but not without a promise from Adam Levine and Lil Wayne that they would both like to offer her a record deal with their respective recording companies. Ultimately, she turned down both offers and when with Island Records only to be dropped in early 2015.

In February 2016, she released an independent album titled “Side A” available on digital download and she began touring with Rachel Platten, on her Wildfire Tour. This was the first opportunity for Christina to perform her new songs to a live audience.

Sadly, on June 10, 2016, after performing at a concert in Orlando, FL, Christina was shot three times and subsequently died of her injuries. While signing autographs at a post-concert event at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Fl, an unknown assailant pulled a gun and fired three shots, all of which hit the rising star. As the shot rang, Christina’s brother tackled the gunman and during the struggle, the gun fired again killing the gunman. His intentions for the murder are unknown and the authorities have yet to release the gunman’s name.

This is truly a sad day for the fans, friends, and family of this amazing young woman. Our prayers, thoughts, and condolences go out to all of you. #RIPChristina
