This last Sunday, November 20, we saw Bill Goldberg step back in a WWE ring. The last time we saw this happen was approximately 12 years ago. Interestingly, Goldberg was taking on Brock Lesnar, billed as “The Beast” by his manager Paul Heyman. I will leave the results to you and Google if you did not watch Survivor Series live, or on replay. The point of this article is the future of Bill Goldberg in the WWE.

In an interview on Heated Conversations with Booker T–another former WCW superstar that found fame in WWE–Goldberg brought up details on the Survivor Series match. Apparently, the deal was for a single match between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. That was it. There was no deal for more matches for the former undefeated undisputed (as he is billed by WWE now) WCW Heavyweight Champion.  That has apparently changed.

Bill Goldberg on Heated Conversations, “I’m treating it as [a one-shot deal], man. That’s what they offered. That’s what I accepted. If they wanted more, they would have offered more. So I took the offer when it came to a mutual decision, which I believe was mutually positive for everybody involved. Dude, I treat it was such. I have a one-match contract and I’m taking it like the last match of my career. And the minute after the match is over, I won’t bask in it. I’ll think about what’s next. If it’s anything else in the wrestling world, I’ll consider that. Earlier tonight on Monday Night Raw, Goldberg appeared and declared he would be entering the 2017 Royal Rumble. He also stated that he has “one more title run in him.”

So, while it appears that Goldberg is indeed back in WWE for the time being we have to wait to see how far this goes. Will he capture the gold for the third time? Does he have it in him to put on shows like he did in WCW? If the Survivor Series match is any indication, then WWE are going to have him return to “old form” and do his “squash matches” angle–one more time.

For the time being there seems to be life in the relaunch of the streak but how long will WWE allow it to run? Triple H is no longer in the picture, as an onscreen talent, so maybe this time Goldberg can run with the gimmick for a decent period of time.
