Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children tells a story of a 16-year-old misfit. Jacob is struggling to come to terms with his Grandfather’s death. The boy’s therapist convinces his parents to let him go to Wales to learn more about his grandfather, to hopefully gain the closure he needs. Jacob uncovers a lot more than he ever thought he would find. This new information takes him on a time-traveling journey that is sure to change his life forever.
I think that the writers did try to make the movie in to a child friendly version of X-Men, so thank god Tim Burton put his own horrific visual spin on it. Being a big Tim Burton fan myself it’s hard for me that the use of too much CGI sadly let him down a touch, so I’m sorry but I dread to see what he’s going to do to Dumbo.
The acting in the movie was amazing and I have to give props to the wonderful young actors and actresses. Miss Peregrine, however, seemed almost robotic when saying her lines, making it hard to connect with the character but I did like the effects of her turning from human in to a bird. (It wowed my children also)
All in all looking at what I have said as a whole I would rate this movie 8/10. I would have given it more had it not been for the bad point I have already noted. Would I watch it again? Not really. Sorry Mr. Burton.
