With the cold weather coming in fast as my favourite season approaches, I decided it was time to bring out the wool and hooks, to make some cute outdoor wear for my little ones. This is a free pattern and I will provide the link for all other sizes at the bottom of this page.
You will need:
5.5mm hook.
4mm hook.
2 colours of double-knit wool. (I chose pink and black)
A darning needle
(Optional) A hot glue gun (If there is an easy way, I will take it)
The hat:
I started with the pink.
Rnd 1: MR, ch 2, 10 dc, join.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join. (20 DC)
Rnd 3: Ch 2, (2 dc in next stitch, dc 1) around, join. (30 DC)
Rnd 4: Ch 2, (2 dc in next stitch, dc 2) around, join. (40 DC)
Rnd 5: Ch 2, (2 dc in next stitch, dc 3) around, join. (50 DC)
Rnd 6: Ch 2, (2 dc in next stitch, dc 9) around, join. (55 DC)
Rnd 7: Ch 2, dc around, join. (55 DC)
Rnd 8 – 12: Repeat Rnd 7.
Fasten off after round 12.
change to your other colour and SC around the edge, making a nice trim.
Fasten off, weave ends.
Flowers:
For the large flower I used 5.5mm hook.
Rnd 1: chain 5, SS into the 1st chain to make a loop.
Rnd 2: Make 10 SC into the look, join.
Rnd 3: In the next SC: Do 1 SC, 3 DC, 1 DC.
Rnd 4: Skip a stitch and repeat the process around untill you have petals.
Rnd 5: After the 5th petal SS into the bottom of the 1st petal then fasten off.
Do the smaller flower with a 4mm hook the same way.
Sew or hot glue the flowers together and add a pearl center if you like
Sew or glue the flower on to the hat and your done.
This hat only took me an hour and a half tops to make and my daughter loves it. Below you will find the link for all the other sizes. Happy Crocheting!
