Retro Games Released Digitally: December 2017

Rather than doing a weekly, or daily, update on retro games released digitally, I figure a monthly roundup would be better. I already know this is not going to be complete without the help of our readers so please, mention any retro game releases you know of that are not on this list.

First up, Steam:

Black Jewel is a throwback “retro” title that harkens back to the Commodore 64 days with its graphics. Fans of Conan the Barbarian, Blades of Vengeance by EA for Sega Genesis, etc. should check this one out. It is less than $2 to boot.

Available on Steam.

Fire Pro Wrestling World is not exactly retro but it is certainly a retro franchise dating all the way back to the 16-Bit days on the PC Engine (Turbo Grafx-16 in the USA). If you have not played a Fire Pro Wrestling game then, well, I cannot blame you as it has seen limited releases here in the USA over the years (a GBA game and a PS2 game I know of but not much else). Fans of wrestling games know this one. Link below.

Available on Steam and eBay for other platforms.

Disney’s The Lion King. This is a 2D side scrolling action game that loosely followed the story of the movie by pitting the player as Simba for most of the adventure. You must trek across 10 levels filled with elephants, heinous hyenas, and more. Keep in mind this is just the ROM file packaged with an emulator, this is not a port, this is not even the DOS version of the game.

Available now on Steam or eBay if you prefer physical copies.

Maniac Mansion was added to Steam on December 19th bringing the classic point and click adventure to digital for the first time. You must pick your team of three teenagers that are tasked with entering the mansion and solving the puzzles within while saving Sandy from Dr. Fred. Will you survive or become a science experiment yourself? This is the original PC game, not the fan created DX version.

Available now on Steam and eBay on many platforms.

Romancing Sa-Ga 2 is an enhanced port of the Super Famicom (SNES in North America) game from 1993. Be careful and check out the reviews on this one, it seems that Steam users are not having all that great a time with this one.

Available on Steam and eBay just for kicks (and you know Japanese).

And now

Titanic: Adventure out of Time is a point and click adventure game with period dressed Full Motion Video actors giving key points. Can you stop the most famous ship wreck in history or do you just want to learn more about it?

Titanic Adventure Out of Time

Available now on or eBay for touchie feelie gamers.

Got a game I missed? Let me know and I will add it to this list. Please note, it must have been added to a digital store in December 2017 to be added to this list.
