Ouija wasnt a terrible movie, but it wasnt great either. Being a massive horror movie fan I was expecting big things from a movie about a group of friends, and an Ouija board. Sadly it just lacked the creepy vibe I was so badly hoping for.
It’s about a young woman by the name of Laine, the sudden death of her best friend, Debbie, shuck her really badly. She finds an old Ouija board in Debbie’s bedroom, and tries to use it to say goodbye to her friend. Instead, she makes contact with a spirit who calles itself “DZ”.
Strange events start to happen, so Laine asks her friends to help her find out DZ’s identity and what it wants. As the friends start to look deeper, they find that Debbie’s mysterious death was not unique. They also learn that they will suffer the same fate, unless they discover how to close the portal they managed to open.
This movie had so much creepy potential, but instead it was full of bad acting and terrible special effects. It’s safe to say, I could quite happily sleep with the lights off after watching this movie. The movie gained a terrible 4.4 out of 10 on IMDb.
As you can see with this frightening trailer, soon as it starts it lets you know it is not going to be a movie to be missed. The use of the effect look amazing from the start, when the creepy black hand dives into the girl’s mouth making her contort in unnatural ways. Straight away you can tell they have gone all out with some awesome effects.
The movie is set in 1965, where a widowed mother and her two daughters are running a scam business. Upon bringing a Ouija board home to be used as a prop the youngest daughter accidentally invites an authentic evil into their home. They girl is overtaken by an evil spirit to which the small family has to face unthinkable fears, in order to save her and send the evil back to the other side.
No creepy movie is ever complete with the use of creepy kids, am I right or wrong?
