Walt Disney World Resort Hotels Upping Security in Name of Better Housekeeping Service

Walt Disney Resorts

The tragic event that happened in Las Vegas earlier this year is just that, tragic. I am not going to point a finger in this article, I am not calling for one thing or another. I am simply pointing out the steps that a popular resort, Walt Disney World Resort Hotels, is disguising raising security as additional housekeeping measures. Just call it what it is and be done.

Starting today at most Walt Disney World Resort Hotels “cast members”, i.e. staff, will begin entering the rooms of guests and performing basic housekeeping duties such as trash removal, room inspection (for damage and such), and other trivial things. They conveniently leave off, in the e-mail making the rounds to guests of the resort, anything about hording rifles and ammunition in a guest room.

This started earlier this year with guests at three Walt Disney World Resort Hotels receiving “Room Occupied” signs instead of “Do Not Disturb” signs at check-in. Even when forgoing housekeeping on any day, Disney rules state that the company reserves the right to have cast members enter the room for any purpose including, but not limited to, performing maintenance, checking on guest safety, security of guests and property.

At least they will let you know ahead of time by knocking that they are about to enter.

While Walt Disney World Resort Hotels are not stating these changes are because of the Las Vegas shooting, it is interesting that they are making such changes now after many years of being more relaxed about these things. Could be coincidence, could be erring on the side of caution.

Currently, three locations are affected by these changes. The Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and the Contemporary Resorts. Guests at these locations will find a piece of paper in their rooms notifying them of these changes. Other locations are expected to receive similar notices soon.
