SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 Bound

SNK are known for their fighting games. Particularly the female battlers. Come on, you know it is true. How many reading this pumped quarters into SNK fighting games to see Mai Shiranui’s winning poses? Anyhow, SNK will be releasing SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy onto the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 this Summer. Fans of SNK style female fighters already know about this game and the spiritual prequel, SNK Gal’s Fighters.

Some of the features that we will see in SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy include a simpler method of performing special moves and well, nothing but females fighting. This is an interesting take on the fighting game genre and one that is not explored all that often. I have wondered why we have never received an all-female fighting game before, it just seems natural considering the games, if handled well, could appeal to both sexes of gamers.

Video game developers are not exactly known for being subtle, so we know there would be offensive female fighters at some point. For instance, who could take Taki from Soul Calibur/Soul Edge seriously with the bouncing mammary glands, or the early Dead or Alive games (how many fighting games fans initially passed due to the graphics?).

SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy will feature seven fighters:

  • Athena Asamiya
  • Kula Diamond
  • Mai Shiranui
  • Leona Heidern
  • Yuri Sakazaki
  • Nakoruru
  • Kukri

This is quite a collection of fighters. I must ask though, where is King from Art of Fighting? Was she too manly looking, until she lost, to be included? It is also interesting to note that Xbox One and Steam are not included in the supported platforms.
