Pepsi Making an Android Phone, Yeah, the Soda Maker

Android is a prolific operating system that is a fact.  If you don’t believe me just continue reading.  Pepsi, the soda maker, is releasing an Android phone of their own.  The Pepsi phone is named Pepsi P1 (could this mean there will be a P2, P3, etc?).  There is no word on whether Intel has been notified of this naming scheme nor their thoughts about it.  Seriously though, the specs on the P1 are pretty good, and the price is even better.

The Pepsi P1 features a 5.5 inch 1080 screen, 2 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM) and a 1.7 gigahertz processor, presumably a quad-core.  The camera that comes installed on the 13 megapixel lens, still pretty good.  The most interesting thing about the Pepsi P1 is the price.  $200.

According to Pepsi is only licensing out their name as the phone will be manufactured by another company (possibly Huawei).  Historically this path has unleashed some pretty horrific and bad results onto the unsuspecting world.

The amount of hardware in the Pepsi P1 is impressive for the price.  No one has met this level of hardware at that price, at least not in North America.  We have seen similar hardware but at about three times the price in Android and Windows Phones.

It remains to be seen if the Pepsi P1 will make the jump to North America.
