Make Money Using Search Engines

It is no secret that there is a search engine war going on right now.  If you didn’t know, now you do.  The question is, did you know that there are search engines out there that will actually pay you to use them?  We are not talking nothing but the little unknown search engines that are probably scams but some of the better known ones.  Like Google and Bing.

First up, we have Swagbucks.  This is a service that pays you points (most of these on this list do) for your activities.  I am not sure how many points I am receiving for searching through Swagbucks (powered by Yahoo) but I can already see it is better to do the other things they give points for.  Surveys, buying stuff, watching videos, etc are all ways to earn Swagbucks and then redeem them for things.  A $5 Amazon gift card is 500 Swagbucks- about on par with Bing Rewards.  Want to join Swagbucks, here is my referral link.

Next is Bing Rewards.  This is Microsoft’s answer to rewarding users for using their search engine.  A lot of people are hyping up that Microsoft is paying you to use their new browser, Edge, but that is only because you have to use Bing as the default search engine.  Guess what?  Bing works with just about any browser, if it doesn’t just set your homepage to, stay logged in, and you are getting the same benefit.

Points are doled out 1 for every two searches on your desktop (up to 15 points) and mobile device (up to 10 points).  Bing also hands out points for doing certain things every day (they give a list in your profile).  This could be clicking on a sponsored link, it could be doing a three point quiz.  You are maxed at 750 to 1,000 points a month depending on if you get just dailies or if you get the bonus points too.  A $5 Amazon gift card is 500 points, lower if you maintain a certain number of searches per month.  This amounts to about $90 to $120 annually in Amazon gift cards.

If you are lucky enough to get in on the closed Google Screenwise group then you can earn a whopping $25 a year in Amazon Gift cards.  All you have to do to earn this is let Google track your computer usage.  This was once a public offering but has since come under attack by various groups and is now invitation only.

There are other options available to earning for your online activities but they usually require you to download a toolbar.  I am not a fan of downloading toolbars as they are not as easy to remember to use.  Between these three, I use Bing daily and Swagbucks sparingly and only have friends that have gotten into Screenwise.  Which search/activity reward service do you use, if any?
