Darksiders Warmastered Edition a Graphical Powerhouse

Darksiders was released six years ago across a multitude of platforms. Praised for its fun combat mechanics and solid voice acting, Darksiders was a hit amongst gamers and critics alike. Success would soon be followed by a sequel in the form of Darksiders II. But, in spite of another successful game, THQ went bankrupt and many fear they wouldn’t see another Darksiders game again. Yet, during 2015, the company Gunfire Games developed an enhanced port of Darksiders II which was published by Nordic Games.

The remaster was titled Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition and it polished the graphics while boasting gameplay balance improvements. After a successful release of the remastered sequel, it was obvious that the original Darksiders required the same treatment. Thus, during October 2016, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition was released on all current gen consoles. However, unlike Darksiders II, the Warmastered Edition only boasted improved graphical and framerate improvements. While the game remains great even without any changes, does this mean it is worth the extra money if you’ve already played it?

It depends on what you’re looking for as a gamer. The Warmastered Edition boasts 60fps and has a graphical resolution of 1080p, however, the WII U port is locked at 30fps–the game also supports a 4K resolution on PC. If you want to experience the story of War (one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse) and the conspiracies behind his early arrival on Earth with better graphics then yes. The game is only priced at twenty dollars which is a rather low price. Also, if you’ve never played a Darksiders game before, and are curious to try it out, then now is an even better time to purchase.

Yet, if these don’t seem as enough to justify the purchase then you’re better off waiting for a Steam sale during the holidays (the original can be as low as five dollars). You’ll be getting the same experience for an even lower price. You won’t be missing out on any extra goodies since the only changes to the Warmastered Edition are purely aesthetical. Still, as mentioned before, if you’ve never played a Darksiders game before, now is the best time to try them. You will not regret it! Darksiders: Warmastered Edition looks beautiful and plays wonderfully as well.
