Fans everywhere are aware that when The Vampire Diaries do a storyline they do it just right. They have always given us just the right amount of love story, drama and heartbreak, they have also managed to successfully shock us to the very core at times.
From the very first season TVD fans have been hooked by the show, and fallen in love with the characters. So it comes as no surprise at the shock we felt when they threw in certain twists, which we really didn’t see coming.
Stefan Kills Vicki:
It was Season 1, Episode 7 (Haunted) when we got our first shocking moment from The Vampire Diaries cast. We saw Vicki (Kayla Ewell) go nuts with blood lust… We expected that, we saw Vicki tasting Jeremy’s blood… We expected that too, and we also expected Vicki to bite Elena. Now the twist which we didn’t see coming was sweet Stefan being the one to stake Vicki in the heart. We never realised such a sweet guy had it in him… Vampire or no Vampire. We didn’t know that Stefan harboured “The Ripper” inside himself by then, so it shocked our socks off to see him being so violent.
Damon and Elena’s First Dance:
In Season 1, Episode 19 (Miss Mystic Falls) we first got a glimps of the feeling which stirred like crazy between Damon and Elena (Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev). While Stefan (Paul Wesley) was off the wagon, and eating the competition it was Damon who saved the day. Oh how fans rooted for “Delena” from that very moment on. I still get goosebumps even when I watch that scene now.
Kathrine Turns Caroline:
In Season 2, Episode 1 (The Return) we sat with our eyeballs popping out their sockets as Kathrine turns Caroline into a vampire. To be fair though, I am sure you will all agree, becoming a vampire was the making of our much-loved Caroline Forbes (Candice King).
Klaus Kills Jenna:
In Season 2, Episode 21 (The Sun Also Rises) we all sat blurry eyed as we watched Jenna, Elena’s Aunt, die at the hand of Klaus (Joseph Morgan). I can guarantee you there was not a dry eye amongst us.
Klaus Flips Stefan’s Humanity Switch:
In Season 3, Episode 5, (The Reckoning) we witnessed Stefan agree to re-embrace his Ripper side and join Klaus on a killing spree. But every sip tasted of remorse until Klaus caught on to his protege’s penitence and forced Stefan to turn off his humanity, making him an unapologetic murder machine.
Alaric Gets Dark:
In Season 3, Episode 16 (1912) Alaric was revealed to be the mysterious Mystic Falls murderer (his psyche split after one too many Gilbert Ring resurrections) with something called The Darkness acting as the Hyde to Alaric’s Jekyll.
Jeremy Turns Hunter:
In Season 4, Episode 12 (A View to a Kill) we all saw Elena turning into a vamp coming… But what we didn’t see coming was when Jeremy became one of “The Five” and officially assumed the mantle of vampire hunter. Not an ideal occupation when your sister is undead.
That was part one of the moments we said OMG! Stay tuned for the second half coming soon. I hope you enjoyed your trip down memory lane. The Vampire Diaries will be returning for Season 8 on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 8. 7c on The CW. There is not an air date set for the UK on ITV2 yet.
