The movie industry just loves to sequalize and remake every brilliant movie they can get their hands on these days. One of the more eye-catching possible sequels to arise over the past few years has been a Beetlejuice 2. Fans all over the world have been beside themselves wondering if this sequel is ever going to happen. Have no fear. I have the scoop right here for you.
Whats the scoop Mr Burton?
Tim Burton’s amazing 1988 original is not really a movie I ever thought would spawn a follow-up over 20 years later. Still rumours made their way around a few years ago that following the Tim Burton sequel of Dark Shadows, Burton had agreed to let screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith write up a script for a possible follow-up.
In the years since,the fans desire for Beetlejuice 2 have only grown louder and stronger. Lately rumors have taken on a life of their own all the while Burton has yet to officially commit to making the film a reality. When Collider spoke up asking about the possibility of Beetlejuice 2 actually being made, Burton had this to say;
“This is the thing, it’s something that I’m interested in, but there’s so many stories, dumping Michael Keaton for Johnny Depp and this or that, and I’ve talked to these people and they didn’t wanna hear this so they just made up a story. But the fact of it is I have talked to Michael and I have talked to Winona, I’ve talked to a few people. It’s something that I really would like to do in the right circumstances, but it’s one of those films where it has to be right. It’s not a kind of movie that cries out for a sequel, it’s not the Beetlejuice trilogy. So it’s something that if the elements are right—because I do love the character and Michael’s amazing as that character, so yeah we’ll see. But there’s nothing concrete yet.”
As you can see the desire to make Beetlejuice 2 is there, but the movie is far from a reality just yet. In the meantime, Burton is busy making a live-action Dumbo film for Disney. It could be a few years before Beetlejuice 2 becomes a reality even if the timing is to Burton’s liking.
