My Opinion On I Know What You Did Last Summer Reboot

I don’t know if everyone knows this yet but the 90s movie I Know What You Did Last Summer is set for a remake. If you grew up in the 90s then this movie news will either have to excited or angry, only you can decide. I chose team excited because the movie could be amazing this time round instead of just great.

The 90s movie had lots of scary potential. Scary, dead fisherman with a captain hook thing going on…. Check. Hormone driven, drunk, group of teens…. Check. A huge scary secret between friends… Check. Notes from the killer… Check. And Freddie Prinze Jr… Check. When you look at it as a whole it was kind of like every other 90s horror movie, which is why I look forward to the remake.

Lets recap properly for a moment:

A year after running over a fisherman and dumping his body in the water, four friends reconvene when Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) receives a frightening letter telling her that their crime was seen. While pursuing who he thinks is responsible for the letter, Barry (Ryan Phillippe) is run over by a man with a meat hook. The bloodletting only increases from there, as the killer with the hook continues to stalk Julie, Helen (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr.).

So whats the remake going to be like?

Deadline released some information that Sony Pictures will be giving this 90s horror a movie make over. The writer will be Mike Flanagan and his partner Jeff Howard. Neal Moritz, the producer for the Fast and Furious franchise, will be producing I Know What You Did Last Summer. Flanagan in an interview said this about the upcoming movie:

“It’s a really neat take. It’s a whole new deal. We’re not interested in doing the same thing again with the eliminated teenagers and the fisherman.”

Surely you can see why I’m quite excited about this one? If done right this movie could smash the box office.
