It is interesting how these puzzle games are evolving. If not in actual gameplay then in game content. Puzzle Monster Quest is one of those “lines” style matching games. Similar to Bejeweled but just different enough in how it works that it is a different experience. This is one of those “evolved” Bejeweled games. Did I mention that Puzzle Monster Quest features Attack on Titan content?
“Puzzle Monster Quest is the perfect blend of strategy and addictive gameplay. The game has something for everyone – including Attack on Titan fans! – and we’re thrilled to share it with the world,” says Alfredo Rudas, Vice President, Kick9. “Speaking of which, we were able to seamlessly integrate Attack on Titan’s characters, monsters, and locations into the core game. The two IPs work so well together. It’s a sight to behold – and incredibly memorable.”
The idea of Puzzle Monster Quest is somewhat different than the usual line matching games. Instead of just matching colored icons and being done, things are a bit more involved in Puzzle Monster Quest. The enemies are literally on the playfield. When you match icons beside them you perform an attack based on the circle of attacks. The icons are color coded according to Earth, Water, Fire, etc. Water is more powerful against Fire enemies for instance so there is a bit of strategy here.
It is a new take on a genre that for some has gotten way to long in the tooth. If you are interested in the Attack on Titan content get ready to play more than a few levels to get it. That is fine as the actual game is interesting, Attack on Titan content is just icing on the cake.
