I’ve have never been a huge fan of the Godzilla movies as they all seem way to farfetched for my liking, but that’s just my point of view. There are many Godzilla movies out there and So many creatures vanquished by the king of all monsters. The fandom surrounding this franchise is incredibly so who am I to knock it down right?
When I heard that Toho studios in Japan would be bringing the massive monster into an animated movie for the first time in over half a century I though cool, why not. At least since its going to be animated it won’t seem a little too farfetched for me to actually sit and watch. (says the vampire addict I am ha-ha)
According to variety Toho had already collaborated on a Godzilla animated series, but it’s said that the 2017 release will mark the first actual film for the animated creature.
In a recent statement Korbun Shizuno who is one of the co-directors of the film told us of his intentions to bring together Two different types of fans with this new style animated movie.
This is what he said:
“We’re aiming to make a big scale animation entertainment that people who love Godzilla and people who know nothing about him can both enjoy”
I’m right up there with the people who know nothing lol to me he’s a giant evil dinosaur, lizard thing ha-ha.
The animation may seem like an odd choice for the franchise to go with especially giving the ongoing success of shin Godzilla, the most recent live action reboot of Toho’s outstanding monster.
Three of the most highest rated movies of this year so far are actually animated movies.
While there is no guarantee at all that American audiences will welcome an animated Godzilla movie with open arms, it’s still going to be a massive thing across international boundaries.
Does Toho have the next big hit on his hands?
we will have to wait and see.
