Batman Return of the Caped Crusaders Cartoon Brings Back Classic Bat-Stars

In the 1960’s we had this really cool television show that was campy as all get out.  It is viewed upon badly by a lot of people that watch it now but for the most part, it is accepted as just plain old fun.  My experience with the show came via re-runs because I was born in 1976 (just a few years after this show was no longer in production).  I liked it.  Adam West was great in that campy kind of way and lent some fun to the Caped Crusader.  Now, Batman Return of the Caped Crusaders is a new animated film that is reminding viewers of that fun time.

Returning for this animated special is not only Adam West (Batman) but also Burt Ward (Robin) and Julie Newmar (Catwoman).  This is great news for fans of the television series and a great way to keep familiar voices around in a point in their careers that they are not able to reprise key roles.

The trailer (above) features Batman and Robin in a situation that just fits in so many ways.  For fans of the newer Batman films this is going to be such a turn off for you.  For fans of the campy 1960’s show this is nostalgia turned up to 15.  Either way, this is going to be an interesting event for fans.

Teased in the trailer are the return of the Joker, Penguin, Catwoman and the Riddler.  That is quite a collection of characters to be seen in one animated special.  Course, this group was routinely featured in the 30 minute episode of the television series.  Featuring them all in an animated special should be no problem as there is obviously going to be more time to work with.

Batman Return of the Caped Crusaders is expected on Digital HD on October 11th and Blu-Ray on November 1st.
