Remember Angry Birds? That casual game from 2009 that took mobile gaming into the mainstream better than any title before is getting a major update. It is only seven years later and Rovio is still adding more content to their first big break out hit title. Considering this is a big update they are not holding back on what is going in. First, they are bringing in a Finnish DJ and music producer with a new remix and a huge chunk of new content.
“I feel honored to be playing a part in the Finnish global phenomenon that the Angry Birds have become,” said Darude. “Making the Sandstorm remix for Angry Birds Mighty League was probably the most giggle-inducing bunch of studio sessions I’ve ever done.”
“The original Angry Birds has now become a lot more social with the Mighty League,” said Wilhelm Taht, Rovio’s Head of Games. “And what better way to update one Finnish classic than with another? Darude’s ‘Sandstorm’ and the original Angry Birds go together like midnight sun and licorice ice cream.”
The idea behind the Mighty League is social gaming. Apparently you will be able to take on daily challenges in the form of beating the average scores on several levels. These averages are pulled, possibly, from your social media so the bigger friends list you have, the more varied your scores to beat and levels could be.
This is Rovio and this is an Angry Birds game so you know there is going to be some In App Purchases (IAP) to deal with. These are in the form of entries into the Mighty League tournament. You will receive three entries per day- additional entries are available via IAP. Players can still play in non-league levels and work on honing their scores for the hundreds of levels available for free.
